EPDM Membrane creates a weathertight seal when used externally and an airtight seal and vapour barrier when used internally. It can be bonded to a variety of substrates using a suitable adhesive sealant or contact adhesive. Both non-adhesive and adhesive strip membranes are available ranging in width 200mm–300mm and thickness 0.6mm.

Generally used to seal windows and door reveals, EPDM Membranes ensure airtightness and vapor control on the inside, and provide wind and weather tightness on the outside. EPDM Membranes are bitumen compatible, and are available with self-adhesive butyl rubber strips which help simplify processing and save time installing. The butyl rubber adhesive is compatible with many substrates and bonds very well to most surfaces. EPDM Membrane quality complies with DIN 18-195 standards, it is examined according to DIN EN 13501–1 and corresponds to Fire Class E, normally inflammable.

Application

Installation Guide:

Surfaces must be stable, dry, free of grease and dust and must not contain adhesive repellent coatings.
Porous surfaces may need to be primed using a suitable primer.
To achieve a weathertight seal adhere a 20mm split release butyl strip to the reveal frame, which is conveniently hidden once clad.
Bond the membrane to the reveal using a contact adhesive such as PHS MS Hybrid.
If you use a full adhesive, you may need to prime the surface, in this case use our combination primer and adhesive PHS Spray Adhesive Plus.
If the EPDM membrane is being used as an airtight vapour control layer, the membrane should overlap by 20mm at the seams and be sealed with a suitable adhesive sealant.

Important

The tape and membrane should not be exposed to any mechanical strain.
