Calls have been made by chairman of the Micro Renewable Energy Federation, Pat Smith, for Government TD’s to lead the way on climate action by generating part of the electricity requirements for their own homes through installing Solar PV.
He explained that installing a standard 4kWp solar PV system will reduce electricity bills by as much as 50%.
He also stressed that those considering installing the Solar PV systems should avail of the SEAI grant which allays a significant part of the installation cost. Pat had widely welcomed the scheme in 2018 and had also called for it to be extended to business owners and farmers.
Smith spoke about how the Government should lead the way on solar power, “Government TD’s and ministers have the opportunity to lead from the front on this vital issue for Ireland and climate action worldwide. They should adopt the technology and show leadership within their communities”.
